everybody Poops - What Your Poop May Be Trying to Tell You

7 Lies We Tell Our Doctors

I have to admit up front, this is going to be the crappiest record I've ever written.

You see, as I was walking my dogs Marty and Rosie the other day, it occurred to me that poop plays a huge role in my life. I'm not afraid to admit it. I pick up after my dogs every day, I scoop my cat's litter box every day (Ok, not Every day, but it honestly feels that way), and I talk with my clients about their bowel movements. In fact, while I was in India this past summer, poop was honestly the amount one topic of conversation in the middle of my colleagues and me, as we compared notes on who had diarrhea and who was still healthy. I even remained on "poop watch," for several weeks after my return to the States, development sure that all things was Ok (and thankfully, it was!)

So, if you are a pet owner, parent, condition care professional, or world traveler, you probably know what I mean!

But many population don't get to talk about poop as much as I do. I know this because when I ask population about their poop, I often get blank stares and uncomfortable looks. So, I let's talk about all of the questions that population want answered but are regularly afraid to ask. After all, your poop is an important indicator of your thorough health!

What is Poop?

Have you ever wondered what poop honestly is? About 75% of your average poop is water, although this will vary depending on the person. Water is absorbed out of fecal material as it passes through the large intestine, so the longer you take to "go," the drier your poop will be.

The remaining 25% is comprised of dead bacteria that helped us suck in our food, living bacteria, protein, undigested food residue (also known as fiber), waste material from food, cellular linings, fats, cholesterol, salts, protein, and substances released from the liver and the intestines (such as mucus).

What Makes a salutary Poop?

Your feces are a clear indicator of the condition of your gastrointestinal tract. Dr. Mehmet Oz says, "At the end of the day you can analyze your body honestly effectively by looking at what comes out of your body."

So what should you look for? A salutary poop will be:
Golden brown, which is due to pigments formed by the bacteria in the gut and bile from the liver. You want to make sure the color is general because that tells you a lot about what's going on in your gastrointestinal tract (more on color below). Formed into one long shape. Dr. Michael Levitt, an Australian colorectal surgeon who has written a book called The Bowel Book, says that the salutary human stool resembles the shape and consistency (although not the same color) of an unripe banana. Dr. Oz says " You don't want [pieces]." Some experts disagree, saying they don't have to be well- formed. Patrick Donovan, N.D., a naturopath in Seattle, Wa says "Stools don't have to be well- formed logs. They can disperse in the toilet water; they can break down." Nearly odorless. About 1 to 2 inches in diameter and 18 inches long.
What About Other Colors?

Sometimes we don't see that "golden guru," and are faced with something else instead. Here's some comprehension into what those other colors might mean.
Black: Feces can be black if dried blood is present in it from internal bleeding in the upper digestive tract. See a physician if this is the case. Very Dark Brown: Drinking wine the night before may follow in dark brown poop. This could also be the follow of eating too much salt, or not adequate vegetables. Yellow: One condition that can cause yellow poop is an infection known as giardia, a perilous infection that can spread to others. Another cause of yellow poop may be a condition known as Gilbert's syndrome. See your physician if you are consistently looking yellow poop. Green: Babies often have green poop when they are given food for the first time. Children may have green or blue poop from definite illnesses or from ingesting food colorings. Adults may also have green poop if they eat large amounts of green, leafy vegetables or if they eat large amounts of foods with green food coloring. Light green poop may indicate immoderate sugar in the diet. Green feces can also occur with diarrhea if bile salts pass through the intestine unchanged. Again, see a physician if you are concerned! White/pale: Feces can appear white or pale after drinking barium sulfate, which is often given to patients getting an X-ray of the digestive tract. A white or pale stool may also be an indication of problems with the gallbladder or liver. Red: consuming red in the feces may be indicative of active bleeding, possibly the follow of hemorrhoids. A magenta color may follow form eating intense red food coloring, or red foods such as beets.
How Often Should I Poop?

Ah - the big question! Experts disagree on how often a person should poop. The National originate for Diabetes, Kidney, and Digestive Diseases says three times a week is general and salutary for some people. According to Ayurveda, an aged Indian healing system, once a day is ideal. Other experts advocate once or twice a day, while still others say a person should have a bowel movement within two to three hours of a major meal- -or two to three times a day. So you can see that it honestly depends on who you talk to. My personal conception is that you above all want to be regular in your pooping schedule, and that one poop a day is ideal.

When person poops four times a day or more and the poop has a liquid consistency, this is referred to as diarrhea. When person poops less than two or three days a week and the poop is hard, dry, and difficult to pass, this is known as constipation.

What's the Deal with Corn?

It's funny, so it's Ok to laugh. But most population I know have experienced it and they ask why it is that when you eat corn, the next time you poop there it is again! There are a concentrate of reasons for this. One is that most of us do not fully chew our food. Another consuming tidbit I've learned that there is an outer coating on corn that is made up of indigestible cellulose. This outer coating slips off the inner kernel and, since it's indigestible, passes through the gut intact. It then emerges looking like a whole kernel, even though it's just the outer skin. The inside of the kernel is starchy and digestible, and that is the part that we follow in chewing and digesting.

Well, hopefully you know now a lot more about this important topic. And that's the scoop on poop!

How to Tell If You Have a Toenail Melanoma

7 Lies We Tell Our Doctors

Toenail melanomas are similarly found on the skin but they are on the skin beneath the toenail or thumbnail. This makes them less noticeable especially for population who frequently wear dark nail polish. This is also the reckon why most toenail melanomas are only treated or removed only when they have reached the more industrialized stages of growth.

Fortunately, toenail melanoma is generally benign, in which case a straightforward surgical operation can be done to remove the skin tumor. Since toenail melanoma is covered by the nail, the carrying out would require the partial or total extraction of the face nail as well.

This is all done under local anesthesia so there is nothing to worry about. With the advances in modern medicine, this surgical operation will only last about an hour.

The first indication of illness of this kind of skin cancer is a small dark spot resembling a mole. Oftentimes, a toenail melanoma is dark yellow, brown or black.

In rare cases, the spot is colorless, development it more difficult to detect. These types are the riskier ones especially if they turn out to be malignant. They can keep growing with the person not even knowing he has it.

To differentiate in the middle of a regular mole and a toenail melanoma, you will have to peruse the spot for a few days or even weeks. If the spot grows in size, there is a large chance that it is in fact a toenail melanoma.

Although most toenail melanomas are benign, this is not a certainty. You need to go in for a biopsy to decree the kind of toenail melanoma you have.

Sometimes a toenail melanoma starts not as a spot but a streak, similar to the white streaks that sometimes appear on the nail following trauma. If you notice these streaks on your nails without undergoing any kind of nail trauma, you should have your nail checked as this can be the beginning stages of a tumor.

Although this condition is generally called toenail melanoma, it can positively occur in any of your other nails as well. They do appear much more frequently on the toenails and thumbnails but you should commonly check your other nails as well.

Once you begin to notice these changes in your nails, it is best to consult a physician right away. Melanomas are still a kind of cancer, and just like other cancers, they are more positively treated if detected early. Also, since they are just like any other tumor, you will need to experience chemotherapy and radiation in case the toenail melanoma turns out to be malignant.

Medical studies have shown that this single kind of melanoma, also called acral lentiginous melanoma in the curative community, is more common in Asians and other population with darker skin. However, Caucasians are not totally risk-free as there have also been several cases of toenail melanoma in very fair-skinned population over the years.

Doctor, Tell Me The Truth About Fibromyalgia... Please!

7 Lies We Tell Our Doctors

Fibromyalgia is a coarse form of arthritis that is characterized by generalized aches and pains, chronic fatigue, non-restorative sleep, and often other symptoms that recommend multi-system disease. leading research findings have shown Fm patients to have higher levels of Substance P- a neurotransmitter responsible for pain processing- and lower levels of somatomedin C and increase hormone, substances required for general musculoskeletal health. Abnormalities moving the levels of serotonin, dopamine, nor-epinephrine, and muscle- related chemicals, adenosine and phosphocreatine have also been demonstrated.

Deficiencies in brain blood flow patterns as well as new genetic research indicating a mutation in the regulatory region of the serotonin transporter gene are unraveling some of the mysteries surrounding Fm. Despite these moving discoveries, a estimate of myths still surround this condition:

Myth# 1: "Only women get Fm." precisely more than 5% of patients are men and that estimate appears to be increasing.

Myth#2: "Only adults get Fm." Actually, Fm probably begins in childhood. "Growing pains" may precisely be a form of fibromyalgia. Approximately, two and one half per cent of children seen in a pediatric rheumatology clinic setting have Fm.

Myth# 3: "Fm is only a form of arthritis." Fm, while often presenting as a musculoskeletal syndrome, is a disorder that has its roots in central nervous theory neurotransmitter dysfunction. This dysfunction leads to multi-system complaints. That is why Fm patients often have breathlessness, palpitations, bowel and bladder symptoms along with aches and pains..

Myth #4: "Fm is a wastebasket term for when a doctor doesn't know what to call it." This is the most damaging of myths. Patients with Fm have a real disorder. While the science is lagging behind as far as providing definite commonly used tests that may aid in diagnosis, there are complicated stereotypical signs and symptoms that demonstrate true objective abnormalities and can help trained physicians recognize patients who have Fm easily.

Myth#5: "There is no medicine for Fm." Nothing could be farther from the truth. While there is no one private medicine that works well for everyone, there are complicated treatments that are commonly effective. Most population riposte to a mixture of therapies that comprise cognitive behavioral therapy, non-impact aerobic exercise, and medications. Other therapies that often help include; acupuncture, hypnosis, massage, chiropractic, tai chi, water exercise, nutritional supplements, and biofeedback.

Myth# 6: "Patients with Fm should avoid exercise." False! If done too swiftly or vigorously, practice can be painful. However, if a graduated program that allows the patient to ease into practice and allows them to advance at an appropriate pace is instituted, practice is precisely a cornerstone of permissible Fm treatment. The key is permissible technique and pace.

Fm is a coarse problem. Patients should have hope because Fm can be managed successfully. population who theorize they might have Fm should be evaluated by a trained physician.

What Not to Tell Your Doctor?

7 Lies We Tell Our Doctors

For many years since treatment has been established as an
ethical profession and gained full, credence people
have believed that they could and should tell their doctor
everything even remotely pertinent to their health and that
it was held in the strictest confidence. Furthermore, how
can the doctor make correct judgments when important or
significant information is missing? This theory worked very
well until relatively recently but there now exists a breach
of this confidence that citizen should know about and this
breach has advanced from the coming of third party
investigations into people's backgrounds. Your medical
records are no longer confidential because you are forced to
reveal them. Let us look at some scenarios.

When visiting your doctor's office on a Monday not feeling
well you tell him/her that you occasionally drink a half
case of beer over the weekend. Believing in the
confidentially of your records you forget about it. Some
time later when you apply for life guarnatee the company
requires you to sign a release for your curative records. (No
release, no application.) The underwriters witness your
records, note the extra beer, and subsequently rate your
premiums higher manufacture you pay extra for decades, thousands
of dollars.

You complain to your doctor of recurrent chest pain.
Investigation reveals nothing, the ache resolves
permanently and you have no additional follow-up to document
the benign resolution. All things is O.K. Ah, but not
really. Those words sit there permanently in the record.
Later you apply for a mortgage or health guarnatee or life
insurance, signing a release of your records. You are turned
down flat or at least rated a higher premium.

Perhaps you have chance to mention to your doctor that you
have stress, marital discord, job problems, and
mental/emotional problems, etc. You later apply for a job
requiring protection clearance or background checks. These
jobs are many and include police, protection and just about
any job entertaining real responsibility. Despite having
resolved the problems guess who might not get the job?
You may never find out why, either.

You injure your hand and you admit to your doctor that you
punched a wall in anger. It could be the only time you ever
did something like that but guess what? Those words will
sit there forever and be taken as evidence of emotional
instability. Want to try for a responsible job?

It indubitably is a shame to see man pay higher
life guarnatee premiums for decades or be passed over for a
job they indubitably want because of an entry in their medical
record.

What can be done about this dilemma? (Webster: A predicament
that defies a satisfactory solution.) Your concerns must be
balanced against the doctor's need for information and his
real need to document what he/she fulfilled, and why. A
correct clarification would be very welcome but one is not
apparent.

The best advent might be the following: Tell your doctor
the truth and discuss with him/her your concerns regarding
your report coming back to hurt you and how this can be
managed
in the best way. In the case of your problem turning out
to be benign then make sure the report reflects this
outcome and
is satisfactory to you At That Time. Don't be required to
scramble around years later trying to correct it. That's
lame at best and you probably won't even get a chance.
Besides, even doctors don't live forever.

If your problem turns out not to be benign, then there is no
choice but to have it in your record. That's life.

When faced with a dilemma all one can do is make the most
carefully carefully decision one can. Work with your doctor
and try to get a corollary that is best for you. After all,
it's your life.

Just be true out there.

A lot of population think that a depressed person has to be whether sad all of the time, or angry all of the time. That isn't true at all. Depression doesn't sway every person the same.

Constant sadness is surely a sign that your wife is depressed. While it is general for a person to be sad once in a while, it is Not general for person to be sad all of the time.

If your wife is usually a nice person, and happy most of the time, and she has started being mean and hateful, or getting mad about what seems to be nothing at all, then she is probably depressed.

How to Tell If Your Vagina is excellent - The Ideal Vagina Has to Be This?

7 Lies We Tell Our Doctors

What gives me the impression that your here because you are implicated you may have an abnormal vagina or you know man that has (girlfriend.) Before going further let`s put you out of your misery. There is no such thing as an abnormal vagina. Abnormal is a word which refers to something that is not considered "usual", see the way I evaded the word "normal" and used usual because the same applies. What is meant here is the vagina may look separate (not abnormal) that`s all. So no you don`t have an abnormal vagina but maybe one that is different.

What should be your concern is having a wholesome vagina. Think about it; look at the women with separate shaped faces, body size and hair color, which of these are considered normal "none" because this is how we were all born with differences. Nevertheless if you`re not swayed by the facts and still worry then let us expound using the words normal and abnormal.

Unless your vagina turns penis then this is not acceptable as normal. What is normal anymore when you see some people changing their gender selecting the penis over the vagina? How can the vagina ever be perfect with foreskin.

The odds of your vagina being separate to that of the next woman`s is very slim. Differences only occur if the pubic hair is colored styled or shaved. Keep your vagina wholesome to have peace of mind. Poor genital hygiene causes other vaginal issues. Widespread health of the whole body will conduce greatly towards holding the vagina in good shape. Bathing is foremost to tackle build up of sweat and greasy skin oils round the genitals which can lead to vaginal infections and odors. Some women find this advice somewhat misleading as to what is the best clarification because, too much bathing is not good, and to less is not good either. Only you know when water and soap is needed. No need for harsh elbow grease because the vagina is a self cleaning organ and is also odorless. If your vagina smells then it is caused by something other than the vagina itself. More women think they are doing themselves a favor by douching, well you`re not. While a douche removes "little" bad bacteria, it at the same time takes more good bacteria away. Douching can cause inflammation (vaginitis).

If you are sexually active then use condoms because these too help keep the vagina clean. Condom use is needed for preventing an unwanted fertilization or sexually transmitted disease. If you have genital hurt go commando if potential (knicker-less) if this advice unnerves you then avoid nylon material, no matter how sexy the thong or other, opt for cotton briefs. The vagina/anus needs room to breathe, so let it. Women touch vaginal odor at the time of menstruation, the clarification is to remove clean safety regular (tampons and pads.)

There is much turn over over what is the "perfect vagina?" and the argument is regularly fought among women themselves. In my thought a perfect vagina is a wholesome one. Every woman differentiates greatly i.e. Shape and size and because of this the vagina is affected, meaning, if you `re fat then the vagina looks spaced out and wide too but this does not insinuate the vaginal entry is big. In fact the big woman`s vagina may be tighter that the skinny woman`s.

A wholesome vagina is as clean and pure as a carton of yoghurt says Dr Hillier from the Magee-Woman`s hospital in Pittsburgh. The vagina is by no means dirty as some would have it. A wholesome vagina is a self regulating ideas and would you believe is cleaner than the mouth and bum. The vaginal ecosystem is a jointly beneficial partnership between the vagina itself and the micro-organisms that exist here. The vagina is filled with bacteria, however all good and destroys the bad bacteria out of the reproductive system. The good bacteria known as lactobacilli are the same organisms contained in yoghurt. In a wholesome vagina these lactobacilli verbalize an acidic environment - colse to 3.8 - 4.5 pH.

Vaginal mucus is not a very nice word but one used and acceptable to help with vaginal explanations. Vaginal mucus is "made up and akin to the things found in blood serum, the lucid, thin, sticky fluid that stays behind when the solid components of blood, like clot issues, are separated away. Vaginal discharge consists of water, albumin - the most copious protein in the human body - a few lost white blood cells, and mucin, the oily matter that gives the vagina and cervix their greasy sheen. discharge is not a toxic waste goods of the body in the sense of urine and faeces.

Is the vagina abnormal because it smells, verily not? A wholesome vagina will however have a "slight" odor but nevertheless if "slight" turns strong (fishy odour) then this is regularly a sign that the delicate balance has been upset and the Lactobacilli is not doing the job it should..

If the balance in the vagina is upset it can cause the vaginal infection "bacterial vaginosis."

Sufficient bathing for the vagina`s outer part "labia," should be done twice a day with cold water. Cold is best because the genitals is already moist and warm which is a problem for allowing bacteria to grow. Scented products can cause vaginal thrush. Pelvic Infections can lead to vaginosis. Candida is a health where the vagina becomes too alkaline, primarily brought about by diet, oral contraceptives even stress. fertilization and the resultant convert in your hormone levels can cause thrush. Antibiotics although given for curing and medical along with oral contraceptives and can lead to vaginosis. Low levels of lactobacilli leave particular women more susceptible to infections because they may have fewer robust lactobacilli. How to verbalize a wholesome Vagina

Forget cleaning the inside of the vagina, it is not necessary. Your vagina will be no less wholesome from not doing this. The vagina regularly flushes itself out. Avoid particular soaps because they can upset the natural balance of substances. You are at risk of developing a vaginal infection through exact goods misuse. Do not douche. The only irregularity to this rule which may be acceptable for douching is if you`re trying to conceive or trying to alter your vaginas pH for a greater good. Do it as puny as potential and growth the whole of lactobacilli in your diet. Add yoghurt to your daily diet or take acidophilus tablets. Consult with your doctor over issues about fertilization and suggested medicines.

Use condoms to keep the vagina clean and wholesome and for protecting against unwanted pregnancies or Stds.

Wear cotton underwear - to allow good air flow.

Avoid using perfumes/sprays round the genitals.

The way to avoid excess bacteria developing round the vagina/urethra is convert motion when cleaning after bowel movement Clean from the front towards the back. Clean the anus last as contamination can spread doing otherwise. Vaginal discharge is a needful part of the body's regular function, however if it shows separate have yourself checked over. Should the convert in discharge be caused by infection then soap and water will not cure it, it will need antibiotics. Vaginal discharge is regularly clear to white; changes in consistency and color are signs to say to call on your Gp. Swap tissue to clean the vagina after urinating with a damp cloth. Using tissue has one tend to give a quick wipe, whereas with a cloth it urges the man to wash.

Good cleansing will see less opportunity of urinary tract infections (Uti's) happening.

Ruptured Cyst Symptoms - How to Tell If Your Ovarian Cyst Has Ruptured

7 Lies We Tell Our Doctors

When you are first diagnosed with an ovarian cyst, you may wonder what will happen. For most women, the cyst will clear up without any problems. However, there are two complications of ovarian cysts that you need to be aware of. These are a ruptured ovarian cyst, and ovarian torsion.

Ruptured Cyst Symptoms

A ruptured ovarian cyst occurs when the cyst grows too large. An ovarian cyst is ordinarily a membrane filled with a clear liquid, kind of like a bubble. When the cyst grows, it stretches the membrane. If it keeps growing, ultimately the membrane can not hold everything in, and so it ruptures. This then releases the liquid inside.

When the cyst ruptures, you will first feel a sharp, intense pain. It will be very intense. You likely will not be able to talk or move. Usually, this subsides in a few minutes and is followed by a burning. This is caused by the liquid irritating the surrounding area.

In some cases, you may also start bleeding. This is especially true if you had an endometrial cyst. This will be like a period, only ordinarily in the middle of your cycle.

If the ruptured cyst goes untreated, the biggest risk of infection. If this sets in, you'll have a fever, chills, and sometimes even symptoms of shock. This is why it important to seek medical medicine as soon as you think you have a ruptured cyst.

Ovarian Torsion

With ovarian torsion the cyst grows large sufficient to cause the ovary to twist downwards. This cuts off the blood supply, which will cause intense pain. If it's not treated right away, the ovary could die and cause further complications.
